Create your first class

Independent educator (no school org)

  1. Sign up as an educator.
  2. You are directed to Syllabus — upload your syllabus or course document (PDF, DOCX, etc.).
  3. Coraltalk processes the document and creates your first class.
  4. You land on the class Summary dashboard.

From Summary, use Set up your 24/7 TA or Customize in the sidebar to refine Coral before inviting students.

School organization teacher

  1. Sign in and open home.
  2. If needed, create a course (or ask an admin to create one).
  3. Click Create new class (or Create a new course first, then class).
  4. Complete the class creation modal:
    • Class name
    • Associated course (org)
    • Plan selection where applicable
  5. Open the new class from the list.

Org teachers are not auto-redirected to syllabus when they have zero classes — you explicitly create course and class from home.

Syllabus and curriculum

After creation, maintain materials under Curriculum in the class sidebar. Richer content improves:

  • TA answers to student questions
  • Context for generated oral questions and rubrics

Add co-teachers

From the class or course card menu:

  • Edit access — Share class with another instructor
  • Add instructor — Invite by email (pending until they accept)

Organization Team invites add people to the school; class-level access assigns them to specific classes.

Verify before students join

  1. Open Customize and confirm TA name, voice, and instructions.
  2. Create a draft oral assignment or open Chats to test a question yourself.
  3. Copy the student link or class code from Invite students.
