Getting started overview
Coraltalk helps educators move beyond written-only assessment: students speak with an AI tutor, complete oral assignments, and practice real-world scenarios while you get transcripts, rubric scores, and class insights.
Account types
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Independent teacher | Personal account without a school organization. You create classes directly from home. |
| School / organization | Members belong to a Clerk organization. Admins manage team, billing, and org-wide settings. Teachers work inside courses that contain classes. |
| Student | Joins via class code, invite link, or Canvas LTI. Sees assigned work and the student view of the TA. |
First login: where you land
After sign-in, Coraltalk sends you to the right starting point:

| Most returning users | Home (/) — your courses and classes |
| New educator signup | Syllabus setup — upload materials to create your first class |
| New student signup | Onboarding — preferences and setup |
| Pending school invitation | Join school — accept the invite |
| Independent teacher with no class yet | Home, then automatically to syllabus until you create a TA |
| Org teacher with no class yet | Home — create a course, then a class (no auto syllabus redirect) |
